So what sounds more Morgan than a Bacon & Beer Festival. Oh, I don’t know.. Bacon & Wine, Bacon & Starbucks, Bacon & Bacon, Bacon & no festival. Festivals are clearly not my thing. Beer is something I rarely if ever consume, I take sips from people’s beer just to try. I actually rarely drink alcohol in general. My father would disagree however! He says I’m a wino, but really who doesn’t need a glass/bottle of win when going home & seeing your family. (I love you father dearest).
But anywho, I’m 21 I thought it would be a fun night out. Clearly I was mistaken. It started at 7:00pm & ended at 10:00pm…I left at 8:45pm. I thought I did a good job all things considered. If you’ve ever met me you’d know I’m basically an 80 year old.
Upsides of this so called Bacon & Beer Festivities
Reason # 1 – Bacon
Reason # 2 – Samples of truly delicious creations
Reason # 3 (written by Krista who is more knowledgeable about beer than I) – Large selection of craft beers from local breweries. (See even that one sentience I couldn’t have come up with. I would have just lots of beers by lots of people – they were aiiight.)
Reason # 1 – not as many vendors of food as I had hoped.
Reason # 2 – Going to actually restaurants & hoping to get some DELICIOUS potato soup, but there was none. – What is that about! You draw us in!
Still these restaurants offer some great meal & creations even if it isn’t what they showed here.
Restaurants/Shops that made appearances –
Habana Cuba Restaurant
– Flavorful Spanish style rice. Added bacon to the mix, but clearly would have been just as perfectly scrumptious without. Haven’t been to their restaurant, but will be soon!
Sweet Tooth Confections –
Had a brown sugar cupcake with an IPA frosting & drizzle (shown in a picture above). That sucker was gone in an instant!
The Bacon Jams –
This was somewhat of a…”I’m not sure if I like this” moment….I don’t believe that bacon goes well or does well on everything…Interesting though! I give it an E for Effort
Crepe Em Coming –
A crepe truck! Handing out SMORES CREPE..SMORES! With bacon! A candied bacon top! Ate around the chocolate & man are they a genius!
Frozen Kuhsterd –
I thought, you can never go wrong with a bread pudding. Obviously, you can! But I don’t think they’re known for their bread puddings…their custard however…magnificent.
I like it when it has a higher milk content then cream, it gives a more icy & less smooth flavor that I adore. So A+ Frozen Kuhsterd!
My new found favorite –
What can be better than a potato bar! A potato bar!
Add your toppings to the most marvelous vegetable ever found. I’m Irish, I love my potatoes.
If you are ever in San Jose, head down to San Pedro Square where you can find this magical mystical bar. You shant be disappointed!
I’m not sure if I’ll go again, but well done Bacon & Beer Festival.
It’s definitely worth going to if you’re into beer drinking & beer tasting alike.
Stay Scrumptious Guys & Dolls!
