I can’t start this blog post off in the normal (hello sweets) way.
I feel so ridiculous. Lets just get this started.
1 lb is 16 oz.
Each cranberry can was 14oz.
Why did I put in 2 cans then?!
Apparently because I can’t do math.
So I had 12 oz to much liquid, which caused a cranberry mayo jello candle PUDDLE.
Now, that that’s off my chest we can get started!
Hey there sweets,
Happy Almost Thanksgiving! It’s not too late to add this beautiful masterpiece to your table! Plus, it is also one of the cheapest recipes I have ever made so that’s AWESOME!
Recipe:
1 – 1lb(16oz) – Ocean Spray Whole Cranberry Sauce
1 – 3oz package of orange fruit flavored gelatin
1- cup boiling water
1/4 – tsp salt (I said sugar in the video, oops)
1 – tbsp lemon juice
1/2 – cup mayo
1 – apple or orange peeled or diced
3/4 – cup walnuts
Β
Heat cranberry sauce, strain, set berries aside. Dissolve gelatin in hot juice and water. Add salt and lemon juice.Chill until thickened enough to mound slightly when dropped from a spoon.Beat in real mayonnaise with rotary beater till light and fluffy. Fold in cranberries, fruit and nuts.Divide mixture evently into eight 6-oz. fruit juice cans. Chill 4 hours or longer. Unmold. Garnish with real mayonnaise to taste.
To flame: Cut thin birthday candle in half to shorten. Insert into tops of cranberry candles. Light.
Taste wise, it wasn’t that bad. I know can you believe I just said something with mayo wasn’t “that bad”. It tasted more of orange jello than anything. Texture of jello was normally except for one of my least favorite things aka nuts for a texture difference (not a fan).
I wish it had stood up on it’s on & didn’t look like the blob, but I will be making this for a Christmas party in a week or so I have a chance to redeem myself!

Now, if you search “Cranberry Mayo Jello Candle” in google images you will see the add from the 1960s with this recipe on it. Now, it was an advertisement for Hellmanns Real Mayonnaise. On the advertisement it suggested eating this with a side of mayonnaise. I’m not that brave, friends, I’m not that brave.
Try it out!
Let me know if it’s a hit for your Thanksgiving festivities!
