“Ice Cream Pie”
Hey there sweet cakes!
I have teamed up with Emerald & Palm to re-create those tasty treats from yesteryear every Thursday for #EmeraldLifeThursday!
Ms.Allison Streuter is bringing some of the most elegant pieces of clothing from the 40s and 50s back into the lime light.
Today first recipe in what will be many is the “Ice Cream Pie”.
First thing to note; this recipe is SO easy to make!
Here’s your grocery list:
– Pint of Vanilla Ice Cream
– Pint of Pistachio Ice Cream
– Pint of pineapple, strawberry, cherry (whichever you prefer honestly!)
– 2-4 frozen pie shells
– Milk (1 cup for each pie)
– Cool Whip/ReddiWhip
– Pudding/Jello Flavors: Chocolate, lemon, pistachio, strawberry
– Toppings: pistachios, pineapple, strawberries, cherries, chocolate shavings
Mix together a pint of ice cream with a cup of milk. After a minute stir in the pudding package. Pour into a pie shell (which was previously baked for a bit to get a nice color) and put in the fridge for an hour.
Take out and enjoy!
So the pudding packages come in two sizes – small and large (I’m not sure on the particular oz right now so we’ll stick to those two sizes).
In the recipe in the photo it does not specify which package to use, however when looking at consistency the chocolate pudding ice cream pie has the greatest consistency. It’s a little more dense and a little more firm.
However, I left the pies out for 2 hours while filming and taking pictures and to my surprise they stayed up really nicely. A little melting here and there, but overall it strangely held it’s shape! Magic!
If you decide to have this for a summer party outside! Keep it the shade and I don’t see there being a problem!
The texture is actually quite wonderful. Have you ever had the Yoplait whipped yogurts? If you have, that’s what it reminded me of! & I like that texture quite a lot so I ate a ton. #WorthIT
Overall this was a win in my book!
A simple summer treat for hot days, yes please.
