“Old Fashioned Brown Sugar Candy”
Original Recipe Found:
Oh my goodness. I can’t tell you, how in love I am with these candies.
So much so that I fight the stomach ache that comes from having to many.
It’s just plain sugar + butter + more sugar and it’s AWESOME.
(See I loved them so much that I hate that entire part of it before taking photos)
Brown Sugar Candy Recipe
– 3/4 cup butter
– 3 cups packed light brown sugar
– 1 can (5 oz) condensed milk
– 1 tsp vanilla extract
– 1 lb powdered sugar
– 1/2 cup walnuts (If you’d like!)
In a heavy saucepan bring the butter, brown sugar, and condensed milk to a boil. Cook over medium-low heat for 5 minutes (stirring). Remove from the heat and add the vanilla extract, powdered sugar, and walnuts (You can use your kitchen aid or by hand). Beat the mixture just until it begins to thicken. Pour candy into the buttered 9in square pan. Let stand until cool; this candy sets-up quickly (if it’s not hot, if it’s hot put into fridge). Cut into 36 squares and place on plate, in a candy dish or may be kept in an airtight container.
Like I said in the video it was 103* the day I made these and though I had the air conditioner on the candy seemed to notice the weather outside.
I put it in the fridge and it set up quite nicely!
I highly recommend this if you like a soft gooey fudge like texture candy. If you like brown sugar. If you’re a fan of butter. I recommend this basically for everyone.
